About
I’m a Master’s student in a double-degree program in Intelligent Transportation Systems at CTU in Prague and Linköping University. My interests include traffic data, GIS, and Cooperative ITS.
During my studies, I worked as an IT technician at the CTU Faculty of Transportation Sciences, managing networks and servers. During my studies and both theses, I focused on different aspects of C-ITS.
Experience
IT Technician
I worked part time as a network technician at the Faculty of Transportation Sciences, CTU in Prague. In my time there, I progressed from L1 support to managing network and server infrastructure in one of the faculty buildings.
Working in the dynamic academic environment has taught me the basics of various roles in IT. From end-user support, through computer lab management and deployment, to development of internal systems and tools.
I've also gained hands-on experience with technologies from vendors like Aruba, Cisco, Ubiquiti and MikroTik. I was tasked with a Proxmox VE cluster deployment, as well as management of the VMware Horizon VDI for students.
Education
Intelligent Transportation Systems
Double-degree study in the field of Intelligent Transportation Systems. First year at CTU FTS in Prague, second year at Linköping University.
The first year’s coursework focused on C-ITS and telematic systems definition in the European context, data processing in R and Python, vehicle systems (ADAS) and electronics, positioning and GIS, sensoric networks' security, simulation & HMI, and safety & reliability, complemented by the master's project at the CertiLab laboratory.
Technology in Transportation and Telecommunications
Study in transportation systems engineering, specializing in Intelligent Transportation Systems. Focus on networking in telematics, working on a project within the CertiLab laboratory.
Concluded with honours and Dean's award for the Bachelor Thesis.
Projects
My Master's thesis, conducted at the Swedish National Road and Transport Research Institute, explored the use of analytical models of V2X communication in order to evaluate V2X-based traffic management algorithms using microscopic traffic simulation. The motivation was that co-simulation with network simulators is time consuming and too detailed for some applications.
The thesis reviewed state-of-art analytical models, selected a modeling approach to tackle this specific problem and implemented it into a simulation framework, coupling PTV Vissim with an external traffic-management application. The results show the abstraction is detailed enough for the specific use case and provides certain advantages to the co-simulation approach.
The main focus of my Bachelor Thesis was to build a tool to verify C-ITS message compliance with European standards. This was needed in order to verify interoperability and integrity of various C-ITS equipment, utilized by the CertiLab laboratory for both research and coursework.
The thesis contains the full implementation of the tool, as well as research into the relevant standards and message types. The tool produces multiple outputs, which can be used for further data analysis.
